MotherandChild-ShirleyStantonFriday evening the Artist’s League of Orange County hosted the Opening Reception for their current show “Anything Goes” at the Casselberry Art House.

5 ribbons were awarded by the judge, Robert Ross, who had high praise for the show. 1st Place was awarded to Eliza Pineau, 2nd Place awarded to Lillians Verkins, 3rd Place awarded to Marianna Ross, Honorable mentions were awarded to Marian Eiermann and Shirley Stanton.

We will feature the winners in these opening posts for our new blog page, starting with the Honorable mentions and finishing with the first award. So check back in these next two weeks as we kick off the new blog address.

Shirley Stanton has woven a basket from pine needles and string, so simple and yet very unique, her baskets would not hold objects as they are sculpture in their own right. Her basket titled ‘Mother and Child’ traces the profile of the classic pose from master painters. It took one of the two honorable mention ribbons.

Congratulations to Shirley!
